Minimum Trade Duration

The 15 second rule explained: what counts, how to calculate it and what to do when it is not met.

More than 50% of your winning profit must come from trades you held longer than 15 seconds. This is the Minimum Trade Duration. It applies in the Evaluation and in SIM Funded, and it never fails your account: in the Evaluation it blocks the pass, and in SIM Funded it blocks the payout request.

How it works

  • Only winning trades count. Losing trades are ignored.

  • Profit is net of commissions. A tiny winner can become a loser after fees.

  • It must be more than 50%. Exactly 50% is not enough.

  • If you have no winning trades yet, it shows N/A.

  • It never causes a breach.

Dashboard tooltip: "More than 50% of your profit must come from trades you held longer than 15 seconds. This never fails your account."

What counts as one trade?

Each matched entry fill and exit fill counts as its own trade.

Example: partial exits

  • You open 10 contracts. You close 5 after 3 seconds and 5 after 20 minutes.

  • 👉 That is two trades: one held 3 seconds (does not count as long) and one held 20 minutes (counts as long).

Example: calculating the percentage

Not met yet

  • Your winning profit is $1,200 in total. $500 came from trades held over 15 seconds and $700 from faster trades.

  • 500 á 1,200 = 41.7%, which is not met.

  • 👉 You need more than $200 of additional profit from trades held over 15 seconds. At $200 more, you would have 700 á 1,400 = exactly 50%, which is not enough.

Met

  • Your winning profit is $1,200. $700 came from trades held over 15 seconds and $500 from faster trades.

  • 700 á 1,200 = 58.3%, which is met.
