Why was my account breached?

Every breach message you can see on the dashboard, what it means and what you can do next.

Your account is breached when it breaks a rule that closes it. The dashboard shows the reason. The most common one is Max loss limit exceeded: your live equity touched the floor. Inactivity, a second hedge, and copying other traders or group trading are also hard breaches. Only the first hedge is a soft breach. After a breach you can reset the same account or buy a new account. You have a limited time to reset at a discount. Check the time left directly on your dashboard.

Hedging rule violated

A second hedge on the same account (hard breach). The first hedge is only a soft breach with a warning email. If the hedge was between two of your accounts, both accounts take the breach, and each account receives its own soft breach (1 soft breach per account)

Deactivated (Inactivity)

You did not open a new trade in time (30 calendar days in the Evaluation, 7 trading days in SIM Funded). Inactivity is always a hard breach

✅ Reaching the profit target is not a breach. Neither is the Consistency Rule, the Minimum Trade Duration, the auto close at 4:45 PM ET, or a BrightPlus balance below the buffer.

The most common breach: Max loss limit exceeded

The breach check runs on your live equity, including open trades. If your equity touches the floor at any moment, even for a second, the account is breached right away.

Example: $50K BrightPlus

  • Your equity reaches $51,500 with an open trade. The floor moves to $49,500.

  • The trade turns against you and your equity touches $49,500.

  • 👉 The account is breached with the message Max loss limit exceeded, even if you would have closed the trade at a better price a minute later.

Example: $50K BrightCore

  • Day 1 closes at $51,200, so the floor becomes $49,200 once it updates, while the market is closed (between 4:45 PM and 5:59 PM ET).

  • On day 2 your equity touches $49,200 during the day.

  • 👉 The account is breached. On BrightCore the floor moves once a day, while the market is closed, but the breach check runs all day.

What to do after a breach

  1. Check the reason on your dashboard.

  2. You can reset the same account or buy a new account. You have a limited time to reset at 45% off the full list price. Check the time left directly on your dashboard. A reset is available for a breached account, whichever stage it was in, and you always receive a Challenge. Read How do resets work and how much do they cost?

  3. If you think the reason is wrong, contact Support and include your account number.

⚠️ If you do not reset in time, the Reset button disappears. Read My reset time expired.
