Why commissions matter for your rules

The Consistency Rule and the Minimum Trade Duration use net profit, after commissions. A tiny winning trade can become a losing trade after fees.

Scenario: a tiny winner

  • You trade 1 NQ contract and make $4 before fees.

  • The round trip commission is $5.76, so the trade is −$1.76 net.

  • ⚠️ For the Minimum Trade Duration, losing trades are ignored, so this trade does not count as a winning trade.

Rule Summary

  • Charged: per contract, per side

  • Same on both plans

  • All-in: commission, exchange, NFA and clearing fees included

  • Rules use net profit after commissions
